Winter time is a great time to get away.
All the holiday-makers have gone away, but living in France, we of course know the best places to eat in the off-season. And of course, it’s an awful lot cheaper at this time of year!
We love to spend Christmas in France – there’s various Christmas Markets (the famous Sarlat market is within driving distance), restaurants that have a festive meal (some of them with music), where you can if you wish eat en famille with others around a table, or you can use the facilities of your gite, with your wood-stove crackling away in the background. There’s an Intermarché supermarket three minutes drive or ten minutes wander, for your supplies. Or you can pop into Nontron twenty minutes away, where there’s several huge supermarkets, including a Lidl with all sort of baked goods,
Or do what the French do, and take a three-minute stroll down to sleepy Piégut village where there’s several boulangeries, a bar, café, restaurants, post office and other little shops too. Get there in good time though in the morning or afternoon to get your fresh baked goods – the locals come from all around the area for their bread and pastries!
We look forwards to welcoming you to a restful stay in one of our comfy gites.
